Kidz in the Park 2009

Faerieland Marquee at Kidz in The Park

The faeries had a lovely time at this year's Mercury Kidz in the Park celebrations on the 4th of January. They were kept busy with facepainting, storytelling, faerie ballet, magical potions and decorating glitter faerie flowers. There was also a fabulous colouring-in contest. Faerie Wishing Well

Faerie Wishing Well at Kidz in the Park

The faeries brought their favourite wishing well to the Park, and many, many visitors made wishes. The most popular wishes were to be a faerie, or meet a faerie; to have a new puppy; and to have a horse! The wishing well is now at our shop in Salamanca Place, so you can come and make a wish the next time you visit.

Here are some more photographs of our wishing well and people making wishers at Kidz in the Park. (Please click on one of the photograpsh to view the full gallery).

Faerie Ballet

Faerie Skyla and friends enjoying faerie ballet

Every little girl loves to dance! Faeries Skyla, Pearl Drop and their friends had a fabulous time dancing to their hearts delight at Kidz in the Park.  And what a wonderful show they put on for everybody in the area of the faerie marquee. We have included a gallery of photographs so everybody can see what fun they had. (Please click on one of the photographs to see the whole gallery)

Fabulous Face Painting

Faerie face painting fun!

Face painting proved to be a spectacular success on the day. The Faerie Shop provided 4 face painters for most of the day and each and everyone was kept busy for the whole time. Children loved their faces and so did some of the adults too!

Stories with the Faeries

Faerie Emerald is a Faerie Shop favourite and she had children entranced with her stories. She and the other faeries also delighted children with faerie sparkles, magical wishes and special together time.

Magical Potions

The Faerie Shop was extremly lucky to have Faerie Moondust available for Kidz in the Park. Faerie Moondust is a magical faerie who knows lots of spells, potions and wizardly lore.

Faerie Moondust ran some magical potions classes where children (and parents) were able to make special potions and other interesting things. A favourite with the boys in particular was Worm Slime! We have included a gallery of photographs so everybody can see what fun they had (Please click on one of the photographs to see the whole gallery).

A Terrarium - a faerie garden

Would you like to make a garden for the Faeries to play in while its cold and snowy outside? We know that the winter Faeries love being out in the cold but some faeries, like Faerie Sweetpea like to have somewhere nice and warm to sleep. To make a terrarium you will need a big glass jar or bowl; some soil (with a sprinkle of faerie dust); some precious stones or some moss or grass seed; some gems (the help to keep it warm); and something soft to make into a faerie bed.

  • Place the gems at the bottom of the jar. Then for the next layer sprinkle some soil along with the Faerie dust, enough to give the moss or grass something to grow in. If you are using grass seed you can sprinkle it on and then another thin layer of soil. If you have some moss you can gently put it enough in to cover the soil. You should now have some beautiful sparkly layers to your Faerie garden.
  • You can make a bed for the faeries to sleep in out of something lovely and soft like some wool or feathers. A nice spot for your terrarium would be near a window so the Faeries can see it easily! Please don't put a lid on the jar otherwise the faeries might not be able to get inside!! We hope you have lots of visitors to your indoor Faerie garden.
